How to request account deletion
Account and data deletion is handled by email. Follow these steps:
- Send an email from the address associated with your Smart Convert account (the email you used to register or your Google account email if you sign in with Google).
- Address the email to [email protected] with the subject line: Smart Convert — Account deletion request.
- In the body, state clearly that you want your account and associated personal data deleted, and include any detail that helps us identify your account (for example, the email address you use to log in).
- We will confirm receipt and process your request within a reasonable time (typically within 30 days), unless a longer period is required by law or for legitimate security or fraud-prevention reasons.
If you no longer have access to your registered email, contact us from another address and include information we can use to verify your identity (we may ask for additional verification before deleting an account).
What data is deleted
When we complete an account deletion request, we aim to delete or irreversibly anonymize:
- Your account profile and credentials held on our servers (including email-based and linked Google sign-in identifiers as stored in our systems).
- App-related data tied to your account (for example, preferences, virtual currency balance, and subscription status on our side, as applicable).
- Operational or support records that identify you as an individual user, where we are not required to retain them.
- Your file conversion history and any metadata associated with processed files.
What may be kept and for how long
Some information may be retained for a limited period or where required:
- Legal and financial records — for example, transaction or tax-related data, may be retained as required by applicable law (typically for the period mandated in your jurisdiction).
- Aggregated or de-identified data — statistics that do not identify you may be retained.
- Security and abuse prevention — minimal records may be kept for a short time to prevent fraud or misuse.
- Backups — your data may remain in encrypted backups for up to approximately 90 days before being fully purged in the ordinary backup rotation.
Deletion of some data without deleting your account
You may also request deletion of specific categories of personal data without closing your account, where technically feasible and where we are not legally required to retain that data. Send an email to [email protected] describing your request. We will respond within a reasonable time.
